INTegrated Effort to better understand and communicate the Risk of breast cancer related TOXicities
Le projet
Corps de texte

INTERTOX is a project that brings together the excellence and expertise of multiple teams at CentraleSupélec and Gustave Roussy, particularly in the fields of complex and innovative predictive modelling, breast cancer survivorship, ethics, and psychology. These expertises are all aligned on the common aim of improving the after-cancer experience and particularly of understanding and communicating the risk of cancer-related toxicities and how they affect patients' lives. INTERTOX has two main Aims. Aim 1: Identify trajectories and bio-behavioral risk factors of distressing toxicities and quality of life (QOL) degradation after breast cancer; Aim 2: Determine how to effectively communicate risk of distressing toxicities and degradation of QOL to patients, paving the way for the implementation and utilization of the models developed during Aim 1 in clinical practice. For Aim 1, the project will build on a) a quantitative strategy to construct predictive risk models -taking advantage of clinical, biological, and patient-reported outcome data from the CANcer TOxicities [CANTO] cohort-, but also on b) the iterative input of social and human science experts. For Aim 2, a qualitative study to understand how to communicate the results of the models developed by Aim 1 to patients will be implemented. Aim 2 will use a cutting-edge digital infrastructure, weSHARE.

Shoshana Rosenberg, BA, MPH, ScD, Harvard Medical School, focused on breast cancer survivorship, quality of life, and treatment decision-making, including decision aids.

Dr. Rosenberg will co-mentor one of the post-doctoral researchers (N. 2): expertise in research dedicated to the improvement of care for women with breast cancer (e.g., qualitative analyses in psychosocial studies, focused on quality of life and cancer) contributing to the development of aim 2.
