A UK-France event organised by the UK Embassy in Paris on GDPR/EU Data regulation will be help on Thursday 6 December, 2018. At a time when the future of data regulation and cooperation between the UK and the EU post-Brexit is the subject of much debate, this event aims to establish dialogue as well as share experience and knowledge between British and French experts in the field of data regulation. It will provide a good platform to inform the audience of the UK and France's plans and cooperation around GDPR.

Panel 1: Responding to New Technologies
One of the objectives for the GDPR was to update the existing regime to reflect technological developments since 1995. The panel will consider if the GDPR has achieved this objective and is it sufficiently ‘technology neutral’ to protect our personal data in the face of recent developments, such as AI and Big Data analytics.
 
Panel 2: Facilitating Data Flows
Our information economy is effectively borderless, while data protection regimes remain stubbornly national (and regional) and different across the world in critical ways. This panel will examine the notion of ‘adequacy’ under the GDPR and the tools made available to ensure the free flow of data between trading partners.
