The European Commission has selected the COFUND DeMythif.AI project led by DATAIA for Paris Saclay University. This €3M funding will enable the co-funding of fifteen theses 2024 academic year (and a further fifteen in 2025) on the theme of "AI and uncertainty": controlling uncertainties, managing explicability, encouraging frugality, across a wide spectrum of applications in fundamental or applied sciences and engineering. These themes are deliberately open-ended to enable a broad integration of issues in and around AI within Paris Saclay.
DeMythif.AI is supported by CNRS, CEA, INRIA, INRAE and Onera, as well as IFPEN, LNE and ILLS, GIS LARTISSTE, IRT SystemX, EDF, GE Healthcare, IBM, RTE, Safran, Sanofi, SLB, startups Quantmetry, Cairnbio, LightOn and Phimeca.

Theses must be supervised by at least one member of Paris Saclay University doctoral school, and are open to all Graduate Schools and Doctoral Schools. Funding for doctoral contracts will be included in the University's calls for proposals, but it is also possible to propose co-funding by a company, or by other non-European projects.
For each selected candidate, DeMythif.AI funds a doctoral scholarship of excellence, with a salary higher than that of ministerial theses, funding for mobility (paid to the student) and for the environment (paid to the laboratory). The largest contingent of theses will be co-financed, after selection by the jury of EDs and graduate schools, but it is possible to bring in co-financing upstream. This co-financing can come from a company (contact the people in charge for details) or from a funded project (except for European projects).
Students will be high-caliber international students in accordance with the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions criteria, having spent less than a year in France between January 2021 and December 2024 (for 2024 academic year), with a degree in AI, CS or science. They will be selected by a single jury, with excellence being the main criterion. During their thesis, in addition to attractive remuneration and dedicated funding, they will benefit from specific doctoral training courses and have the opportunity to spend up to three months in an external company or laboratory through the complementary activities scheme.
Subjects must be entered into ADUM, Paris Saclay University's thesis management website, before October, 25th midnight. The subject must not exceed three pages, in terms of ADUM questionnaire items from "Thematic" to "Expected results". ADUM allows the addition of a supplementary PDF, which should only include additional, non-crucial details on the topic.
The text (in English) of the topic should be attractive to potential candidates, and should also defend the topic as new and interesting to the jury, although the jury will primarily assess the merits of the candidate. Candidates may choose up to three topics in order of preference.
Specify which Master's degree is required in which discipline (Computer Science, Physics etc...). After filling in the ADUM form, please fill in the following form, in order to collect some additional information, in particular suggestions of experts who could evaluate the subject.
