2026 Sophie Germain Call for Proposals: Strengthening Franco-British Collaborations in AI and Health

The 2026 edition of the Sophie Germain program is now open to applications from researchers based in France. Applications may be submitted through July 13, 2026.

Launched following the 3rd Franco-British Joint Committee on Science, Technology, and Innovation, held in Paris on May 28, 2026, this call aims to support scientific collaborations of excellence between France and the United Kingdom around two priority themes: artificial intelligence and health.

The program supports projects led jointly by French and British teams, with funding of up to €50,000. Interdisciplinary approaches are particularly encouraged, including those that involve the humanities and social sciences.

The funding awarded will, in particular, enable:

  • The mobility of young researchers;
  • The organization of scientific exchanges and workshops;
  • The acquisition of resources or equipment necessary for the project;
  • The development of structured collaborations at the European level, particularly with a view to Horizon Europe.

These priorities are particularly aligned with the collaborations already underway between Paris-Saclay University and the University of Exeter—a strategic partner in the United Kingdom—through the bilateral strategic fund, the joint supervision framework agreement, and the momentum driven by the European EUGLOH alliance.

The Sophie Germain program thus represents a major opportunity to initiate or strengthen ambitious Franco-British collaborations in the fields of AI and health, while consolidating sustainable scientific partnerships at the European level.
