Title

Converging Realities: AI-Driven Innovation in Creative Expression, Industrial Intelligence, and Immersive Interaction

Abstract

This talk presents a cross-domain exploration of Artificial Intelligence applications that bridge creative expression, industrial diagnostics, and immersive user interaction. Beginning with music generation, we investigate the use of evolutionary algorithms to synthesize novel compositions and unsupervised clustering techniques for content-based genre analysis, uncovering latent patterns across musical styles. In manufacturing, we focus on data-driven prognostics and condition monitoring using anomaly detection models aimed at improving product quality and operational reliability. Structural health monitoring is addressed through both computer vision and vibration-based techniques for damage localization and quantification, highlighting recent developments in real-time, non-invasive diagnostic systems. Finally, we examine the frontiers of immersive technology through AR/VR frameworks, with a focus on architectural visualization and the development of MITHRA—a meta-intelligent humanoid assistant that integrates hyper-personalized conversational AI with avatar holography. By synthesizing methodologies across these domains, the talk illustrates how AI can enable robust, context-aware systems that are both analytically rigorous and deeply human-centric.

Biography

Prof. Prafulla Kalapatapu, (Ph.D)., is the Program Coordinator for Artificial Intelligence in the Department of Computer Science at Mahindra University, École Centrale School of Engineering, established in collaboration with the Mahindra Group and École Centrale Paris (now CentraleSupélec). She also serves as an Adjunct Professor at BITS Pilani.

With over 23 years of academic experience, her research spans diverse areas including algorithmic music generation using evolutionary algorithms, unsupervised learning for music similarity analysis, AI-based condition monitoring in manufacturing, and structural health monitoring through vision and vibration-based methods. She is also involved in AR/VR applications for infrastructure visualization and the development of MITHRA—a meta-intelligent humanoid assistant combining conversational AI and avatar holography.

Prof. Kalapatapu co-founded the interdisciplinary Center for Sustainable Infrastructure and Systems (CSIS) at Mahindra University and collaborates with researchers from the University of Texas at Austin and the University of Florida. She has led multiple IEEE technically co-sponsored international conferences and Indo-US workshops, and has represented her work globally through invited lectures in over 16 countries. She organized six IEEE technically co-sponsored international conferences (ICMLDS, ICETCI) as General Chair, and conducted four Indo-US workshops in collaboration with University of Florida. Her research-driven approach, combined with a strong teaching foundation, reflects a commitment to pushing the frontiers of applied AI across disciplines.
