Bringing together young researchers from France and Germany, the AI for Science: Franco-German Summer School 2026 has led to five collaborative research projects selected for funding. Supported by Institut DataIA Paris-Saclay, AI Grid and SCAI, the 25 researchers involved will have 11 months to develop their proposals across a range of scientific fields.

Among the ten projects selected under the 2026 Franco-British Sophie Germain Call, three are led by teams from the Paris-Saclay research ecosystem, including two affiliated with the DataIA Institute. These results mark a significant step forward in the scientific collaborations initiated with the Universities of Oxford and Cambridge, notably during the workshop held last May at Inria Saclay.

Five grants will be available to enable experts and PhD students from the Paris-Saclay ecosystem to take part in the Africa Forward Winter School, which focuses on the applications of artificial intelligence in the fields of health and medicine. Taking place from 16 to 20 November 2026 at KNUST in Kumasi, Ghana, this event will provide an opportunity to develop new scientific collaborations between Paris-Saclay and its African partners.
